We translate to and from Finnish, English and Polish, as well as from Swedish, German and Czech. We are widely experienced and have particular expertise in the area of technical translation, including instruction manuals for machines and equipment, technical specifications, construction documentation, requests for quotations, environmental impact assessment studies etc., plus official correspondence, texts from a variety of disciplines in the humanities, and literature; both fiction as well as non-fiction. The list of BLT clients comprises companies from a broad range of business; local government institutions; Polish, Finnish and British offices and agencies; as well as publishing houses. (see references for selected testimonials). BLT also provides interpretation services (meetings, trade fairs, etc.) in Poland and abroad, and have specialised in consultancy services relating to cooperation between Polish and Finnish companies and institutions. In addition, for many years BLT has maintained mutually beneficial contacts with the most renowned translation bureaus in Poland. PRINCIPLESWhen commissioned to translate texts which are intended to have a particular effect or target a specific audience, for example marketing or public relations materials such as web pages or information brochures, it is important to consider the option of dynamic translation, or even producing an entirely new text in the target language, though of course retaining all the relevant information from the original text. Only by doing this can truly professional results be guaranteed, as each language is governed by its own principles with its own stylistic devices, and each country and culture has its own peculiarities. It is worth bearing in mind that a literal translation is not always the most effective. For highly-specialised texts from narrow fields of science and technology we recommend employing the services of expert native language speaking consultants in order to verify the relevant terminology. BLT has established long-standing relationships with highly qualified and experienced consultants from Finland, Great Britain and the Czech Republic. It is always best to translate directly from the language of the original, of course, as translating through intermediary languages increases the risk of misinterpreting the author's original meaning. And, last but not least, flexibility is the key to a successful enterprise. We are most likely Poland's only translating shop capable of handling texts from the Sami language (the Northern Sami). |
